Product Description

10 Digit TN Reflective LCD Display Module for Gas Meter Register

Model HTG8872-10-PRDNNS-N-T · 70.0 × 27.0 mm · 10-digit totalizer with decimal points and up/down arrows · reflective TN, no backlight · operating range -40 °C to +70 °C · 3.6 V single supply.

What this module is

A custom segment LCD built for battery-powered utility meters. Ten 7-segment digits, a decimal point on each digit, and a pair of up/down arrows underneath, so one glass carries the volume reading, the flow direction and the reverse-flow state. The positive TN fluid works in reflective mode: it uses ambient light instead of a backlight.

  • 10 digits, 7-segment, decimal point per digit
  • Up and down arrows for flow direction and tariff switching
  • Reflective TN, positive display — readable in direct sunlight
  • 6:00 viewing direction, the natural angle for a wall-mounted meter

Why reflective TN for a meter

No backlight, so no backlight current

Nothing is illuminated but the segments themselves. On a meter that has to run for years on one lithium cell, the display stops competing with the radio and the valve for energy.

Contrast rises with ambient light

A rear reflector returns daylight through the glass. The brighter the meter box, the stronger the contrast — the opposite of a transmissive display that washes out in the sun.

Wide temperature without a heater

The TN fluid is specified from -40 °C to +70 °C, with storage down to -50 °C. Unheated outdoor cabinets in Eastern Europe stay inside that window, so no cabinet heater is required.

Tested in a climatic chamber

Production modules were powered inside a chamber with every segment energised and the run was recorded on video. The controller was reading -45 °C while the glass kept all ten digits switching.

Where it fits

Diaphragm and rotary gas meters, residential and bulk water meters, heat and BTU calculators, sub-metering panels and dispenser registers. The module mounts behind a register window with four metal clips, and the 10-pin row lands on a 2.54 mm pitch footprint.

OEM / ODM

  • Segment artwork, digit count, icons and logos printed on the glass
  • Outline, viewing area and pin order matched to your PCB
  • Viewing direction 6:00 standard, other directions on request
  • Process: incoming inspection, COG bonding, UV glue and black silicone seal, 100 % segment test, chamber run, protective packing

FAQ

1. What is the minimum order quantity?

MOQ is 1000 pieces for a standard build. Tooling and sample orders are discussed per project — send the drawing and we will quote the actual quantity break.

2. Can I get a sample before placing an order?

Yes. Samples are built against your drawing or against this HTG8872-10 specification. Share the segment layout, outline and pin assignment and we will confirm what can be shipped from stock versus what needs tooling.

3. How long is production lead time?

Lead time depends on whether the glass tooling already exists and on the quantity. It is confirmed in the quotation rather than assumed here — the schedule is quoted together with the price so both stay accurate.

4. Can the digit count, size and pinout be customized?

Yes. Digit count, viewing area, outline, pin order, viewing direction and printed icons are all part of the custom build. The 70 × 27 mm / 10-pin layout here is one released configuration, not a fixed limit.

5. Will it work at -40 °C in an unheated outdoor cabinet?

The module is specified from -40 °C to +70 °C operating and -50 °C to +70 °C storage, and was chamber-tested at -45 °C with all segments switching. Because it is reflective, there is no backlight or heater to fail in the cold.

6. Which driver and interface does it use?

Driver IC ML1001B-2U on glass, 1/1 duty and 1/1 bias, 64 Hz frame rate, 3.6 V logic. Six active pins: VDD, GND, LOAD, DIN, LCLK, DCLK; pins 7–10 are not connected.

7. What certifications come with the module?

RoHS 2.0 and REACH declarations are supplied with each shipment. If your market needs additional documentation, tell us at the quotation stage so it can be confirmed in writing rather than assumed.

8. How is the module packed for export?

Anti-static tray, foam interlayer and export carton, with the pin row protected. Packing quantity and carton dimensions are confirmed on the quotation; tell us if you need palletized or drop-test packing.
